Data Scientist Intern

San Diego, CA

The Intern Data Scientist reports to the Manager, Business Systems & Services within WWS QA Support Services. Your role will focus on supporting analyzing operational critical data, identifying trends, developing a prediction model based on the data, and visualizing results with reports and dashboards. As a Data Scientist you will work on WWS QA Game Bugs data and budget prediction project, to support management with estimating effort required to support first party games.


  • Analyze PlayStation Studio first party game data, including, but not limited to, bugs, budgets, timelines, industry data and more
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand their projection & analytical needs
  • Identify proper Machine Learning models that best quit our data and analysis
  • Apply ML model and train it based on existingdata, some data cleaning may be required
  • {Present model to business stakeholders and work with them to pilot on live cases
  • Improve model based on feedback
  • Work with engineering resoruces to create UI for users to interact with the model
  • Building highly functional and appealing reports/dashboards to visualize model data
  • Train end users on projection processes


  • Advanced knowledge of R
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL & Database Structure
  • Relevant business analysis experience
  • Experience working with internal or external customer groups
  • Experience with Tableau/Looker (or other industry leading data visualization tool) Experience
  • Analytical orientation and strong problem-solving skills, demonstrated by the ability to structure an issue and analyze alternative solutions. Tireless advocate for the use of data to support the analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Excel & Powerpoint)
  • Comfortable working in a global matrix-based team

Preferred Experience / Education

  • Familiarity with gaming industry will be considered a strong asset
  • Experience working with BI or business systems
  • Track record of showcasing customer service mindset
  • JIRA & Confluence experience
