About the Employer

As part of the Avatar Project you’ll play an instrumental role in bringing to life the beautiful and dangerous moon of Pandora. This is a unique opportunity to keep growing your experience in games while working hand-in-hand with Disney’s creative minds and James Cameron’s production company, Lightstorm Entertainment.

As a User Experience Designer at Massive Entertainment, you’ll help shape the gameplay experience from the players perspective. You'll work closely with Game Designers, UI Artists, and Programmers to make sure the player experience is understandable, accessible, and engaging.

  • Providing UX expertise (best practices and solutions) to multiple game features;
  • Designing logic, layout, and flow of UI menus and elements that support various gameplay features and accessibility principles;
  • Ensuring consistent UI/UX solutions across the game, for a familiar style and ease of use;
  • Designing onboarding solutions for new game concepts and mechanics.

Your knowledge in the field of UX and games transfers into a clear passion for what you do. You feel responsible for the player experience and take initiative to drive features forward, ensuring the highest possible quality. To achieve this, you're open to feedback and other perspectives, whilst you're also able to constructively provide feedback of your own to the cross-disciplinary teams around you. Collaborating effectively, adapting to changes, and working towards a shared goal.

Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:

  • You must provide a relevant portfolio with UI/UX Design examples from video games;
  • Several years of proven work experience within Design in the games industry, AAA is a plus;
  • Proficient user of Adobe Illustrator and wireframing software (e.g. XD, Visio or others);
  • Solid understanding of design principles (e.g. info hierarchy, layout, typography, color);
  • Awareness of current trends in visual communication is essential.
