Finance Manager

About the Employer

Avalanche Studios Group is opening a fourth location in Liverpool, adding our unique games, and culture to the city’s rich gaming heritage and established game development scene. We are now seeking a driven Finance Manager to be a key contributor to this studio and to take full ownership of taking our financial processes local and ensuring a structure around the financial follow-up and reporting.


The Position

As Finance Manager, you will be managing all financial tasks for Liverpool and are responsible for doing a full closing and reporting of our UK legal entity each month as well as at the year-end. To succeed in this role we are looking for a doer, someone who is solution-oriented, has a strong sense of responsibility and delivers towards set goals. You are comfortable working independently and will take full responsibility for delivering high-quality work against given deadlines.

You also have strong accounting expertise, are highly analytical and have an active interest in the company's business and development and enjoy being part of an entrepreneurial organisation. You are driven by being involved in the company's continued development in an exciting industry as well as working closely with the CFO and management teams. You will report directly to the CFO who’s based in Sweden and you will be part of the Operations team in Liverpool and will have the opportunity to work in one of the largest independent game development studios, offering world-leading and innovative open-world technology and game development.


Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day responsibility for all financial activities within the Avalanche Studios Group Ltd (bookkeeping, invoicing, entries, reconciliations, bank balances)
  • Full monthly and year-end closing activities including reconciliations of bank statements, AR, AP, accruals, depreciations and VAT and local taxes
  • Payments and cash planning
  • Financial statements
  • Financial reporting to Stockholm (PL, BS and CF)
  • Financial planning Budget and Forecasts
  • Development project- and operations follow-up, variance analysis and reporting
  • Local audit
  • Local VAT- and Taxes including HMRC reporting and admin
  • Preparing company payroll including PAYE
  • Payroll admin (contact with local payroll service) and managing other staff costs (pensions, insurances, health care)
  • Local point of contact with UK auditor as well as Group Auditor, tax advisors and other financial advisers


Requirements

  • Experience in qualified accounting work
  • Degree in economics
  • Financial statements and reporting
  • Experience from a game development studio or a Tech and/or a Media company
  • Accounting system: Quickbooks experience a must
  • Payroll- and staff costs analysis experience a must
  • Hardware, software, IT costs knowledge
  • Benefits (e.g. pensions, insurances, health care, etc)
  • UK and local taxes
  • Variance analysis
  • Managing budgets and working capital
  • Office package (mainly Excel and Powerpoint) and Google presentations
  • Positive attitude and good communication (fluent spoken and written communication skills in English).
