Amazon Games is seeking a seasoned QA Manager to partner with our San Diego studio to bring immersive and engaging gaming experiences to Amazon’s customers everywhere. You will own end-to-end software quality for a AAA franchise; optimize QA processes to reduce risk and improve efficiency in product development, deployment and sustainment; partner with peers to make quality practices a core part of every discipline; hire and develop great talent; and advance team capabilities in test automation, tooling and innovative QA methodologies.

The Role
The selected candidate will report into the Amazon Games QA organization but be embedded within the San Diego studio. Candidate will be responsible for leading the QA effort for current and future product development within that studio, as well as contribute to initiatives that span the QA org.

Focus and Deliverables for first 12 Months
Within the first year, we expect this impactful leader to:
· Establish and streamline a QA pipeline to support a game development within the San Diego studio, enabling that team to efficiently and confidently release high-quality products to our customers
· Directly lead the testing of a game franchise
· Collaborate closely with product teams and partners teams to understand a product vision and customer segment and develop appropriate test strategies
· Provide strategic direction, effective delegation and mentorship to QA engineers
· Evaluate and communicate the launch readiness of titles to key stakeholders and executive leaders

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements
· BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
Basic Qualifications
· 7+ years of experience in overall software QA/test experience; 2+ years as a manager
· Proven experience in building and managing a test team
· Demonstrated experience developing high-quality test plans and test reports
· Experience shipping 2+ products (guiding them from initial planning to a customer-facing release)
· Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, software testing standards, methods and conventions, and the product development cycle

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications
· Passion for and knowledge of video games and digital entertainment
· Strong people management skills, with proven ability to hire and grow talented tools developers and test engineers
· Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate problem impacts and to understand business requirements
· Experience driving technological and process innovation
· Proven success in communicating cross-functionally and across management levels
· Experience with “games as a service” (GaaS) or “live games” (e.g. ensuring highly-reliable online features, supporting ongoing updates)
· Experience with DevOps development practices, and contributing to continuous integration and risk mitigation
· ISTQB (or equivalent qualification) a plus
